Insights into the Relationship Between Hypertension and Albuminuria

چکیده
Albuminuria is the increased excretion of the serum protein albumin into the urine. Albuminuria is classically seen as an important diagnostic marker of declining kidney function, however, more recently albuminuria has also been implicated as a marker for cardiovascular and peripheral vascular disease indicating an important link between processes governing both cardiovascular and renal function. This review will discuss i) a common mechanism for albuminuria that accounts for albuminuria seen in hypertension and other albuminuric states and ii) possible linking factors between albuminuria, hypertension and cardiovascular disease.

Relationship between Intra-renal Arterial Resistance Index (RI) and Albuminuria in Diabetic Patients
OBJECTIVE: Diabetic nephropathy is a major diabetes complication. Arterial resistance index (RI) may predict deterioration in kidney function. This study was designed to compare renal arterial RI in different stages of renal function according to glomerular filtration rate (GFR), serum creatinine level and proteinuria. MATERIALS AND METHODS: In a cross-sectional study on 81 diabetic patients i...
متن کاملPrevalence and Control of Hypertension and Albuminuria in South Korea: Focus on Obesity and Abdominal Obesity in the Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, 2011–2012
BACKGROUND Albuminuria is associated with cardiovascular disease, and the relationship between albuminuria and hypertension is well established in many studies. So the control of hypertension is critical for decreasing cardiovascular events and albuminuria. Obesity and abdominal obesity are also associated with hypertension and albuminuria. Therefore, we analyzed the relationship between albumi...
متن کاملTitle: KIDNEY VOLUME AND ALBUMINURIA AS MARKERS OF BIRTH WEIGHT – BLOOD PRESSURE RELATIONSHIP IN ESSENTIAL HYPERTENSION Running title: Birth weight - blood pressure relationship in essential hypertension
Our aim was to analyze whether birth weight contributes to future hypertension through reduced kidney volume, and could albuminuria be a marker of this pathway. We included 103 patients with newly-diagnosed essential hypertension and 92 normotensive controls. Blood pressure(BP) was measured using mercury sphygmomanometer and ABP monitor. Kidney volume was determined by ultrasound. Data on birth...
متن کاملAlbuminuria: Prevalence, associated risk factors and relationship with cardiovascular disease
AIMS/INTRODUCTION To investigate the prevalence and associated risk factors of microalbuminuria, and to explore the relationship between albuminuria and cardiovascular disease (CVD). MATERIALS AND METHODS A nationally representative sample of 38,203 Chinese participants was categorized by different levels of urinary albumin-to-creatinine ratio (ACR; 0 -10 mg/g, 10 -20 mg/g, 20 -30 mg/g, 30 -3...
متن کاملRelationship between Anti-lnsul or Proteinuria in Human Insulin Mellitus in Antibodies and -Treated Type 2 Albuminuria Diabetes
In order to examine the relationship between anti-insulin antibodies (AIA) caused by extrinsic human insulin and albuminuria or proteinuria, 53 human insulin-treated type 2 diabetics were divided into two groups: (AIA(+) group) 27 patients with a titer of AIA greater than 7.6% and (AIA(-) group) 26 patients with a titer of AIA less than 7.5%. Although no significant difference was found between...
